Part one: the details
For each person, pick the document they will be verified against, then type what is on it: the number, and their KRA PIN. The choice here decides what part two asks for, which is why the documents page does not open until every person’s details are recorded.Part two: the documents
If they are using a national ID
ID, front
The side with the photograph and the number.
ID, back
The reverse.
If they are using a passport
Pages 2 and 3, in one photograph
Open the passport fully and take one photo showing both the data page
(photograph, name, date of birth, passport number) and the facing page with
the issuing authority and signature. Two separate photos are sent back.
Everyone also provides
A photo holding the document
The person holding the ID or passport they are being verified against, with
both their face and the document readable.
A passport-size photo
A plain headshot on a light background.
KRA PIN certificate
The certificate itself, not a screenshot of the number.
Business documents
Registration or the certificate of incorporation, depending on the type of
business.
After you submit
Your documents are locked while a reviewer has them, and the verification page stops asking for anything: it shows where the review stands instead.1
Sent for review
We have everything. Nothing is needed from you.
2
Being reviewed
Someone is checking each document against the details you gave.
3
An answer, by email
Usually within one business day.
If it is sent back
You get an email saying exactly what needs changing, in the reviewer’s own words. Your documents unlock, you fix what was described, and you submit again. Nothing else needs redoing. If it is approved
The limit on the account lifts. You can create a link, say where money should settle, and start collecting. Why submissions get sent back
In rough order of how often we see them:- A name typed differently from the document. Middle names are the usual culprit.
- A photograph too blurred to read the number.
- The back of an ID uploaded where the front belongs.
- A passport photographed as two separate pages instead of one open spread.
- A screenshot of a KRA PIN number instead of the certificate.
